The entrance door to building reception area is a push/pull type, but staff are always available to assist if needed here. You only have access to the floor of your apartment, lobby and carpark. Main door to apartment is extra wide for ease of entry but is a heavy fire door, so people in wheelchairs will require assistance to open this door. If needed, management staff who live onsite are happy to assist with this. Lift takes you to the first floor.

The tiled balcony has a removable ramped access and looks out over the walled pool area to the street. The ramp to the balcony fits the balcony access from the bedroom. The heated saltwater pool and spa are not wheelchair accessible, although it is possible to get to the area beside the pool. No barbecues however there are several gas barbecues nearby, just off the fully accessible coastal boardwalk above Bulcock Beach.

Accessible Eating
You are spoilt for choice for eating options in this locale. Everything from fish and chips to fine dining along Bulcock Beack is available. Belaire Place has its own onsite restaurant, 'Indiyum', as well. It specialises in Indian food with an Aussie twist and is open for lunch and dinner, 7 days a week. There are several gas barbecues nearby, just off the fully accessible coastal boardwalk above Bulcock Beach.

If you want to get a good look at the Pumicestone Passage, it is possible to continue all the way by sealed paths in the parklands along The Esplanade mentioned above, beside the water until you eventually reach the Caloundra Power Boat Club. If any of you are walking, it is a very long way, so recommend driving as a better option. (They have an open-air carpark). Similar to many of the RSL clubs found in N.S.W, this club is an absolute hive of activity and right on the water to boot! It has gaming machines, a coffee shop and restaurant with gorgeous water views, reasonably priced food and there is often live entertainment and other activities such as bingo. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet. Tourists don't have to pay the inexpensive membership fee, just provide evidence of where they are from ie driver's license, to prove that they are not local.
Out and About
Parks/playgrounds .. suggestions for nearby..

Option 1:

Head out of the front door of Belaire Place and turn right along the footpath. At the corner you will find you are directly above Bulcock Beach. An accessible recently revamped boardwalk runs along at street level and also above the beach up to a park partway up the headland at that point, complete with a kiosk and children's playgrounds. The boardwalk now runs uninterrupted from Bulcock to Kings Beach, with occasional seating and lovely ocean and rock pool views along the way. There are accessible toilets, barbecues, shady areas and lovely views of the beach and coastline. The pool at King's Beach is fully accessible. Across the road are shops and restaurants. There is also a concrete ramp which takes you down to Bulcock Beach.

Option 2:

A short distance away by car, on the Esplanade (just off Landsborough Parade) bordering the Pumicestone Passage are pathed parklands with fishing, as well as plenty of barbecue options. A sealed wide path meanders pleasantly through this charming park, with wheelchair accessible toilets, children's playgrounds and gas barbecues placed at convenient intervals. Take your own supplies as the nearest coffee shops seem to be all the way up the other end, a couple of blocks in from the water at the Golden Beach shops. About half way up this park is a recently renovated and accessible jetty which is great for getting closer to the water for viewing or a bit of fishing and feeling safe. It is quite wide and has metal railings along the sides. For the fishers amongst you, there is also a stainless steel table and tap for sorting out the fish you catch and a bin for discarded fishing line!

If you stick to the water's edge and continue past the end of the park (bear in mind it is a very long park), a little bit further up the sealed pathway takes you on to a boardwalk through the mangroves for a short way with two viewing platforms out to the Pumicestone Passage, before coming up again near the Caloundra Power Boat Club (see below). You can easily check this out if you started at the Club as this whole area is very accessible.
Liberty swing

A liberty swing for children in wheelchairs is set in the first playground you come to in the park mentioned above. Ask staff at Belaire Place if they can provide you with a key to this swing. If not, look in the 'Things to do' section for Holidays for how to get a key. Note,, if you don't have a key of your own already, you need to organise this during the week as the Council office which handles this, whilst quite close to Belaire Place, is closed on weekends.
This hotel includes one attractive non smoking, one bedroom motel style apartment,  specifically designed to cater for people with disabilities. Located on the first floor and accessible by lift, it classifies as a standard apartment if you are looking at information on the Belaire Place's own website. It contains a kitchenette and is furnished with a small dining area and a lounge area and ramped balcony. The bathroom is fully accessible for people with disabilities. There is free Austar/Foxtel cable TV and for a charge you can also have Jimojo Wi-fi (vouchers from reception - charges apply). Additional Information Price range $560 to $935 per week, depending on season. These rates were correct as of July 2011 and are for two people. No minimum or maximum stay!
